So Why Join A Language Challenge?
Learning a language is hard work and the key to mastering it is consistency.
Staying consistent when you study alone is difficult and most of us let life get in the way. Very soon, the learning stops and you think “it was a great idea but I just don’t have the time”.
Sound familiar? It definitely does to me. If you learn as part if a group though, that all changes.
Look at it this way. If you woke up in the morning and decided to run 3 miles but got tired after 2, would you walk the rest of the way? For most of us, the answer is probably (or Yes if I am being completely honest with myself).
But if you joined a group of people that were running 3 miles, would you push through to the end? Of course you would!
That’s why language challenges work. You have a group of like minded people all striving towards a common goal, helping each other to stay motivated and keep going even when it’s tough.

How is My Language Challenge different?
I’ve done a lot of language challenges and all of them have had a positive impact on my language learning. I’ve also been frustrated at how limiting they can be.
All challengers follow exactly the same steps or formula regardless of level or learning style. It means that the challenge is awesome for some but only has limited success for others. This is especially true when the challenge is repeated to advance further.
I’m not blaming the challenges, they offered everything they promised but I always wanted more. As I couldn’t find it anywhere else, I decided to create my own. With my language challenge, we do follow a system to progress throughout but we also get participants to suggest and vote on micro challenges. This gives variety and keeps the challenge fresh time and time again.
